Solar Vertical Lamp .//

.

The surprisingly chic and witty Solar Vertical Lamp designed by Yoon-Hui Kim and Eun-Kyung Kim. During the day, miniature solar pads soak up the sun’s energy. At night, artfully placed lighting pixels (similar to those used on billboards) illuminate. Simply close the blinds to ‘turn on’ your lights. These smart lights come in table lamp, floor lamp, and chandelier forms that add dramatic ambiance to any room in the house. Besides being completely energy-efficient and saving you tons of money on your monthly bill, you never have to dust them!

50 Graus Labyrinth ,//

.

Brazilian environmental activists 50 Graus set up a maze around a public drinking fountain in Ibirapuera Park, making it difficult for thirsty park-goers to get quick and easy access to water. The message is simple: Water. It's getting harder and harder to find. Don't waste it.

Piper Heidsieck Rosé Sauvage .//

.

It's time for me to nag you again with my favorite dutch-duo Viktor&Rolf . This time they have joined forces with champagne producer Piper Heidsieck to put a unique twist on the design of their Limited Edition Piper Heidsieck Rosé Sauvage champagne. Upside down! Again! Yes! just like their store in Milano! Top becomes bottom and bottom becomes top, for the champagne bottle, bucket and flute-turned-martini-glass alike. The set of champagne, flute and bucket is retailing at a mere £50.

Artistic Apreciation: René Magritte

"My painting is visible images which conceal nothing; they evoke mystery and, indeed, when one sees one of my pictures, one asks oneself this simple question 'What does that mean'? It does not mean anything, because mystery means nothing either, it is unknowable."

BucaWrestlers .//

.

Stephen Wiltshire .//

.

Stephen Wiltshire has been called the "Human Camera." In this short excerpt from the film Beautiful Minds: A Voyage into the Brain, Wiltshire takes a helicopter journey over Rome and then draws a panoramic view of what he saw, entirely from memory.

Grand Central Still .//

.

A strange sight at Grand Central. A couple of hundred people, indistinguishable from the 500,000 commuters who pass through the midtown station each day, suddenly freeze. They were part of an improv group which has put on this public event before, but never in such a theatrical space.

Sergei Larenkov has photoshopped together modern images of St Petersburg with photos taken during the brutal Siege of Leningrad during WWII. The results are stunning.

Palais Des Nations .//

.

A 23 mil. euros decorative ceiling for the 'Palais Des Nations' in Geneva, designed by Miguel Barcelo.

The artist recently revealed the inspiration behind his brightly coloured abstract.

“On a day of immense heat in the middle of the Sahel desert, I recall with vivacity the mirage of an image of the world dripping toward the sky,” Barcelo said.

The 50-year-old abstract artist used more than 100 tons of paint with pigments from all over the world. The ceiling took over a year to produce, and Barcelo worked with architects, engineers and even particle physics laboratories to develop the extra-strength aluminum for the dome.

Bus Stop Ads.//

.

3M was so sure their Security Glass was unbreakable, they put a large stack of cash behind it and shoved it in a bus stop. Actually, it was only $500 of real currency stacked on top of fake money, and people could only use their feet to try to break it. A security guard was present to make sure no one broke the rules and that people couldn't get to keep the money if they broke it.

As part of our campaign to announce that McDonald’s restaurants are now open at night, we designed an ad that could literally only be read at night. During the day, the reversed test and yellow curve were a curious sight. But after the dark, the back-lit poster was reflected in the glass revealing the complete logo and our message.

This outdoor idea not only embraces the media at its disposal but also gives consumers a realistic world of advice to help tackle the current energy crisis in South Africa. The execution ensures that the consumer interacts with the message when a light is triggered by a sensor as they approach the bus stop - illuminating the shelter as well as the message, which reads: “Only use electricity when you need it”. This bus shelter is a strong reminder of how simple it is to save energy, by switching off a light when it’s not a use.

To promote Rimmel’s Quick Dry nail polish JWT London’s aim was to literally stop young women in their tracks by placing large eye catching sculptures outside Rimmel retailers on high streets.Bottles of nail polish appeared to have been poured onto the floor from a height with the liquid drying in seconds to create a surreal spectacle, highlighting the product’s quick drying benefit. The campaign also included actual size models situated around point of sale counters in stores.
